Gentrification in Lisbon – Data Embroidery Project
This project explores the visual and social changes in Lisbon caused by gentrification, a subject I feel personally connected to, having roots in the Graça and Castelo neighborhoods. Inspired by Giorgia Lupi’s data-driven art and traditional Portuguese craftsmanship, I created an embroidered piece that represents statistical data on population shifts, tourism, and housing between 2000 and 2019. Each element and color was carefully chosen to reflect these transformations. The final piece is accompanied by a postcard summarizing the key data, blending emotional narrative with visual information design.
Notas Trocadas - Short Animation
A short, one-minute animation—and my first attempt at full animation beyond simple GIFs—Notas Trocadas retells the true 1997 incident with pianist Maria João Pires at the Wiener Musikverein. As the orchestra began a Mozart concerto, she realized she had prepared the wrong one. In a moment of quiet panic—and extraordinary focus—she played the entire piece from memory. This animation captures that emotional shift, highlighting the tension, instinct, and artistry behind a legendary musical moment.

Visualizing Classical Music
My Master’s final project explored how design can bridge the gap between classical music and wider audiences. Through shapes and colors, I developed a visual system that translates rhythm, mood, and dynamics into intuitive graphics. Tested with non-musicians, the system helped users emotionally connect with symphonic pieces — no musical training required.
Self-Portrait in Concert
My first animation using After Effects—a looping GIF based on a self-portrait created in Illustrator. The assignment was to animate ourselves, so I decided to place myself on stage playing the guitar. Ironically, I can’t play the guitar in real life… but at least in this animation, I can!

Daily Walks: Nature and Neglect
During the pandemic, daily “hygienic walks” became one of the few outdoor activities available — and I began taking the same route near my home each day. Over time, what started as a simple routine turned into a space for observation. Living near the countryside, I started noticing subtle details in nature that might pass unseen in a more urban setting. But these walks also revealed something else: the rising presence of litter, especially abandoned face masks. This project explores the contrast between the quiet beauty of natural surroundings and the growing disregard for them. The photographs follow the gradual shift of daylight — from morning to evening — reflecting the rhythm of those months, and how even in repetition, we can find both wonder and discomfort.
Plasty - speculative branding
A speculative design project envisioning the branding of a fictional fast food chain in a future where plastic waste can be scientifically transformed into organic compounds suitable for consumption. Plasty explores the concept of “plastic food” both literally and critically—reimagining waste as resource, and questioning consumer culture, sustainability, and the boundaries of what we consider edible.
